Bligh and Labor roll over on health
Despite a total lack of detail in Kevin Rudd’s Health and Hospital reforms, Anna Bligh and State Labor have rolled over and swallowed the dubious prescription.
LNP health spokesman Mark McArdle told State parliament* there were many unanswered questions and a total lack of detail in Kevin Rudd’s plan.
“State Labor for 12 years has delivered appalling health outcomes for Queenslanders and now they have demonstrated they can’t be trusted to question Kevin Rudd,” Mr McArdle said.
“Why would anyone trust him on health when it was Kevin ‘Doctor Death’ Rudd under Wayne Goss who closed Queensland Regional Hospital Boards and put in place the current bureaucratic structure that’s failed Queenslanders.
“There is one issue, however, on which Kevin Rudd is right, and that is the importance of maximising local decision-making power by establishing local hospital boards.
“The LNP, Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott all agree that health reform must include greater involvement of locals in decision-making.”
Mr McArdle said Anna Bligh and Health Minister Paul Lucas needed to explain why they are the only people who didn’t trust local doctors and nurses and other talented community members in having a greater role in running local hospitals.
“The LNP is in no doubt we need to change the way the public hospital system is run.
“The LNP is not convinced that handing over billions of dollars of Queensland’s GST money and establishing a dual funding and reporting system is the right way to go given Rudd can’t even manage to put a pink batt in a roof.”
