Bligh scared to face Labor conference
Premier Anna Bligh was scared of facing the Labor rank and file members amidst unprecedented anger over her privatisation plans, the State Opposition said today.
In a unique motion to State Parliament, the LNP urged the Premier to oppose any move to cancel or postpone the annual state conference of the Queensland Labor Party.
Deputy Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg said Anna Bligh was treating Labor’s rank and file with contempt by denying them the right to have their say at a state conference.
“This is a Premier so arrogant and so out of touch that she presents her campaign to cut the jobs of thousands of rail workers, labourers and admin workers as an idea Labor should support,” he said.
“Anna Bligh tries to claim she is making the ‘tough decisions’ but it is not tough to hide the Government’s true intentions from Queenslanders at a time when they demand and expect complete honesty.
“It is not tough to duck for cover or bow to the craven weaknesses of the Prime Minister, even if it is at some small risk to his political hide.
“It is disgraceful that Anna Bligh and Kevin Rudd are scared of their own membership.”
