Promoting language tutoring and translation

The LNP’s stance
A LNP Government would ensure that linguistic services are promoted in the community, in terms of tutoring and translation. While some community organisations already produce these services, they should be supported to ensure language does not become a barrier for any migrant to our state.

 Reasons for this stance
Language can be a major hurdle for new migrants.  The inability to communicate in English severely limits the ability of people to interact, to participate in our community and to contribute to our state.

Even a trip to the shops can be traumatic if a person’s language is limited and dealing with authorities leads to a whole new set of problems arising.

Language is the key to participation in our community, and it is an essential first step in deriving the benefits of cultural diversity in our community.
