Hospital buck-passing not good enough
The State Opposition have called on Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon to stop shielding the Bligh Labor Government from any criticism following the release of the latest State of our Hospital report.
State Opposition Leader, John-Paul Langbroek said the buck passing and excuses have to stop.
”The sick state of our hospitals is the direct result of 11 years of State Labor Government neglect and mismanagement.
”This report outlines the sorry state Queensland hospitals are in so instead of passing the buck to the Federal Government, the Premier must take responsibility and commit to action to improve conditions,” Mr Langbroek said.
Shadow Minister for Health Mark McArdle is appalled by the State Government’s attempt to downplay the report findings.
”Minister Lucas is saying the report highlights the great job they have done which contradicts the Federal Minister who says patients can’t get treated in emergency departments and can’t get a hospital bed.
”Pretending everything is fine isn’t addressing the obvious pain our health and hospital systems are in.
”For Federal Minister Roxon to be shooting the blame anywhere other than to her Labor colleague, Anna Bligh, is misguided at best and blatantly deceitful at worst.
”If respective Beattie and Bligh Governments had invested health money from Canberra wisely into our State’s public hospitals than we wouldn’t be seeing yet again, things getting worse year after year.
”The Rudd Government can throw all the money they like to Queensland for Health, but the fact is the Bligh Government can’t plan, can’t manage and can’t deliver and that won’t change.
”This report, the second biggest vote of no confidence in Anna Bligh after Rudd’s plan to take over control of our hospitals, condemns10 years if inaction and neglect by prospective Queensland State Labor Governments.
