Weapons Amendment Bill 2011

The Weapons Amendment Bill was introduced into Queensland Parliament by the Bligh Government to tighten laws surrounding the possession and licensing of personal weapons (i.e. guns, knives).

The LNP recognises the proposed changes to the Bill are restrictive and prohibitive to law-abiding Queenslanders and does nothing to address actual criminal activity.

Shadow Minister for Police, Corrective Services and Emergency Services, John-Paul Langbroek MP, acknowledges the thousands of stakeholders who have tendered their submissions against the Bill.

The LNP will work with all Queenslanders to ensure any new laws are aimed at the areas where there is genuine concern.

Gold Coast chopper on same flight path as cyclone shelters

BLIGH Labor’s police helicopter promise for the Gold Coast was on the same flight path as Labor’s cyclone shelters, the LNP said today.

LNP Shadow Minister for Police, Corrective Services & Emergency Services John-Paul Langbroek said Labor’s promise of $7.5 million for a permanent police helicopter for the Gold Coast could not be believed

Sex criminals reoffending under Labor

Bligh Labor has systematically failed to keep proper checks on thousands of paedophiles with at least 140 dangerous offenders who had been freed on parole arrested for committing further sex crimes against children in the past six years.

Shadow Minister for Police and Corrective Services John-Paul Langbroek said under long-term Labor's weak sentencing laws and the government's lax monitoring system there'd been an astounding 2084 breaches of parole conditions by paedophiles in the same period.

Beenleigh police station upgrade – overdue and over budget

THE long promised Beenleigh police station upgrade was years late, and millions of dollars over budget.

LNP Shadow Minister for Police John-Paul Langbroek said the station upgrade was almost five years coming and the budget had blown out by $5.7 million.

“It’s another glaring example of Bligh government malfunction, and mismanagement from retiring Police Minister Neil Roberts,” Mr Langbroek said

Welcome to my online office!

It is my honour and privilege to serve you in the Queensland Parliament.

Surfers Paradise is a special part of the world. With its playful history, Surfers Paradise has long been considered the heart and soul of the Gold Coast, where entertainment, tourism and business collide and thrive.

As your local representative my goal is to ensure the spirit of Surfers is retained by delivering a world-class transport system, supporting a robust local business and tourism economy, and encouraging sustainable development.

Part of my role as a Member of Parliament is to ensure your needs and the needs of my community are served by the State Government. Since being elected in 2004 I have worked hard to make sure the Gold Coast has a strong voice in Parliament. As a result, I have successfully campaigned for tougher restrictions on underage drinking and bans on dangerous drug implements, as well as initiating other important public health measures which will help improve the health and well-being of Queenslanders.

I am committed to delivering results and representing the people of Surfers Paradise to the best of my ability. In order to achieve this, I rely on your feedback about the issues that affect you in our community. I hope you will use this website to contact me and express your views and ideas.

Thank you for visiting!
