One rule for us and another for Labor mates
The Bligh Labor Government has continued to look out for its Labor mates with the Premier throwing out the rule book for her former chief of staff.
LNP Leader and Leader of the Opposition John-Paul Langbroek said the decision to allow former chief of staff Mike Kaiser to deal with his colleagues in his new role at the National Broadband network was against the new code of conduct.
“The Government’s own code of conduct, introduced by the Premier while Mr Kaiser was working in the Premier’s office last year, bans public servants from having office dealings with former ministerial staff on matter they dealt with over the past 18 months of their government employment,” Mr Langbroek said.
“Now the rules are being changed so that Mike Kaiser can have this $450,000 job.
“It is the height of arrogance from the Premier to suggest that Mr Kaiser’s appointment was approved by Gough Whitlam’s former Press Secretary David Solomon, despite the Integrity Commissioner stating this deal is outside his jurisdiction.
“For the Premier to say these rules do not apply to Mr Kaiser because he only read or “viewed” cabinet submissions and decisions is ludicrous.
“He has read the top secret documents and his integrity is already clouded by documentation showing that Mr Kaiser was clearly making representations seeking the NBN headquarters to be located in Queensland.”
