Blue card blue – no police checks for 100 days
LABOR’S Blue Card system went into meltdown today after it was revealed 100 days had passed since the last police report on Blue Card holders who’d been arrested for disqualifying offences was sent through.
LNP Shadow Minister for Police John-Paul Langbroek said the whole Blue Card system had been undermined by a major breakdown in communication.
"It's beyond belief that this has taken more than 100 days or 13 weeks to identify," Mr Langbroek said.
"While 57 Blue Card holders have been identified in the debacle, the big question remains as to how many people have been able to continue working with children after being picked up for an offence.
"We need to ensure this type of system failure never happens again.
"The whole Government is in meltdown and this is just another in a long list of system breakdowns that range from the health payroll disaster to OneSchool, and now the Blue Card system.
“All this comes hot on the heels of the weapons licensing fiasco when gun licence checks, applications and renewals were delayed for months.
"The LNP will Govern for all Queenslanders and deliver on the basics."
