Give frontline workers the thumbs up on New Year’s Eve
The State Opposition has urged all Queenslanders to give police officers and emergency service workers a big thumbs up this New Year’s Eve.
“While many of us will be travelling or celebrating in the next couple of days – our dedicated police officers, ambulance officers, and hospital emergency department staff will be working hard in our communities around the state to ensure we have a safe and happy start to 2012,” Mr Langbroek said.
“Police will be patrolling our roads and paramedics will be giving lifesaving first-aid and assistance to partygoers and accident victims.
“Our volunteer SES workers will also be on standby in the event of natural disasters or emergencies.
“All Queenslanders should be proud of these workers – and should acknowledge the time and effort they are putting in. Give them the thumbs up or a wave – as a thank-you gesture,” Mr Langbroek said.
“It’s unfortunate that some of our tireless frontline workers do face harassment and stress from troublemakers or out-of-control revellers during the holiday period. They deserve a simple acknowledgement or words of support from the general public.
“The LNP team supports the work of our frontline workers – and we wish them all a happy New Year.
“It’s time for a change in 2012. Time to get Queensland back on track.”
