Bligh Government challenged to reveal police budget cuts
LABOR’S Police Minister Neil Roberts has been challenged to come clean on where he will cut the $87 million from the police budget to pay for the recent police pay rise.
LNP Shadow Minister for Police, Corrective Services & Emergency Services John-Paul Langbroek called on Mr Roberts to rule out big cuts to the police operational budget to pay for the police pay rise.
“Taxpayers deserve an explanation from Mr Roberts about what will happen to the police budget and what areas will be threatened by cuts,” Mr Langbroek said.
“Last sitting of parliament Mr Roberts ran for cover when questioned over the issue.
“The Bligh government never plans, and with its mounting debt problems – finding $87 million in a tight police budget to cover the pay rise is going to be a problem .
“Not only taxpayers – but, hardworking police need Minister Roberts to be up front and honest.”
Mr Langbroek said Labor could not be trusted.
“This is the Minister who openly admits he doesn’t make tough decisions in relation to the police service.
“We can’t trust this Labor Government for another three years who will say and so anything before an election.
“The CanDo LNP team will cut waste and bring commonsense government to Queensland.
“Soon we will have a chance to get Queensland back on track.”
