Remember all women on International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is the perfect time for Queensland women to think about their sisters overseas, Shadow Minister for Women Rosemary Menkens said today.

“While Queensland women are celebrating their equality and achievements, they should spare a thought for those less fortunate in other countries,” Mrs Menkens said.

“Queensland women have the right to vote, to work and to decide what they want to do with their lives, while many women struggle with poverty and political upheaval every day of their lives.

“There are still too many women dying during child birth in third world countries, while others are suffering mutilation and abuse.

“I’d encourage all Queensland women to pause and think about the struggles their sisters are facing in third world countries.”
