Sorensen appointed LNP Deputy Whip

Member for Hervey Bay Ted Sorensen has been appointed the LNP’s Deputy Whip.

State Opposition and LNP Leader John-Paul Langbroek said Mr Sorensen would assist the Opposition’s Chief Whip, Mike Horan, in organising MPs during Parliament sittings.

“The Whip and Deputy Whip perform a range of duties for the Leader including organising speaking lists, ensuring attendance for votes and counting votes during divisions on legislation and motions in the Parliament,” he said.

“In some respects, the Whip and Deputy Whip are like the team managers or coaches who organise the MPs when Parliament is sitting.

“As the former Hervey Bay Mayor, Ted knows the importance of team work and ensuring a team is disciplined and focussed on the job at hand.

“Ted has been doing a great job as the Member for Hervey Bay, and I am confident he will be a hard working and diligent Deputy Whip.”
